Rentmeesterschap is voor veel christen-politici de centrale waarde in hun visie op de economie. Maar rente is parasitair op economische activiteit. Über en Airbnb zijn de rentmeesters in de moderne economie en zijn niet echt de voorbeelden van ‘rentmeesterschap’ die christen-politici voor ogen hebben. (more…)

Na 75 jaar, 3 generaties, zijn er bijna geen mensen meer in leven die een gebeurtenis hebben meegemaakt. Er is dan bijna niemand meer die kan vertellen hoe mensen een situatie of een gebeurtenis hebben ervaren en hoe zij zich een houding gaven in die situatie. (more…)

There is a short story by Heinrich Böll called “Anecdote to lower labour morality” (“Anekdote zur Senkung der Arbeitsmoral”, 1963). It is about a tourist who takes a picture of a man dozing on his fishing boat, shabby clothes, the picturesque poverty one sees on holiday in European fishing harbours. (more…)
